Our Programs

HJS PTSO Programs

We aren’t sure yet which programs will need to be altered this year, but these are the things we do in a typical school year:

Color Run - September 24, 2021: The Color Run is not only an incredibly fun event for our students and staff, but it is also our one major fundraiser for the school year. We are not able to have this event in September as we usually do, but we will try to have it later in the school year, if possible.

The Thunderhawk Tile Project - April 1, 2022: During this fun outdoor activity, 7th and 8th graders will paint their way to a brighter school year! Students will decorate their own one-of-a-kind ceiling tile to be hung in the lunchroom for all to see. We know it will mean so much for them to leave their own special mark on Hopewell Junior School for this and future years.

School Dances: Junior High is a special time for our children, and our casual, after-school dances provide a fun way to socialize in a safe, supervised environment.  There are typically four of these throughout the year, plus one special dance just for 8th grade students (from Hopewell Jr. and Liberty Jr. combined) in May at the high school.

Success Breakfasts: Held four times during the school year, Success Breakfasts celebrate various accomplishments of students. Attendees are nominated by teachers to recognize students that are performing acts of kindness, improving effort, and overcoming obstacles.

Conference Night Dinners:  On conference nights, our teachers don’t have time to go out for a meal between their normal work day and conference times, so the PTSO hosts a meal for them to enjoy at school.

Community Service Fair:  During this half-day event, local social service organizations make presentations to all seventh-grade students in an effort to encourage increased service to our community.

Staff Appreciation:  The PTSO plans an awesome Staff Appreciation Week in May to make sure our HJS team knows how wonderful we think they are.

Academic Excellence Awards - May 5, 2022 :  This is a spring celebration of our students’ academic achievements through the year.

Field Day - May 20, 2022: Just for 8th grade students, this friendly competition among the Thunder and Hawk teams is a guaranteed fun day!

Facebook:  Join our Facebook Group (search “Hopewell Jr. PTSO & Parents”) to stay connected, see pictures, ask questions, and get information about upcoming events.

School Gifts:  If our fundraising is successful, we have money left over to make gifts to the school.  Some of the things we have done with our funds over the past year include buying new picnic tables for the front lawn, renovating the staff lounge, buying needed band and art supplies, installing new signs over the stage in the gym and in the cafeteria, installing full-length mirrors in the locker rooms, and adding a water bottle filler to our lobby water fountain.
