End of semester exams for students in grades 9-12 have been cancelled for the first semester this school year. Grades for the first and second quarters will be weighted equally at 50% to determine first semester grades.

The last week of school in December will be full learning days for high school students. Teachers will be working with students to help them get caught up on missing work and wrapping up first semester learning.

“We are in the middle of a pandemic with many students and staff who have been quarantined or who have tested positive for COVID-19,” said Keith Koehne, executive director of curriculum and instruction. “While our teachers and students have done a great job staying connected while out of school, we know it is not the same as being in class. It would not be fair to expect a student who has been quarantined during the month of December to return to school and take a final exam,” he continued. “We believe that by eliminating finals for the first semester, it will help lessen a little bit of the stress our students are carrying during these unprecedented times.”

Final exams are still scheduled for the end of second semester.
